Soweto The Nerve of South Africa's Conscience

Soweto is part of South Africaā€™s total nerve and an economic consciousness system. A genuine mirror that reflects an image of our societyā€™s economic, moral, social, and political outlook of its past, present and future existence. Yet, it is no different from any other black township around the country. Maybe its attention is derived from ā€œitā€ paying the price to initiate the June 16 1976 riots.

However, it has taken its own unique place in the history of manā€™s role on this planet, i.e. to restore the dignity and the balance of power to represent the voice of all people and races south of Africaā€™s continent, ā€œFreedom at lastā€ as they claim.

Therefore, its victory; trials and tribulations is representative of Africaā€™s unfathomable challenge and a yardstick to raise the continentsā€™ stakes in human capital and technology development of our times. Briefly, ā€œSowetoā€™s Windowā€ is about a continued reflection of disparities of our societyā€™s ill and a new struggle of a Unified People in the economic and the education twilight by the majority.

An Incomprehensible Dynamic Disposition Of False Democracy

  • The unfair promotion and distribution of jobs in government and the private sector since 1994 poses a serious challenge on job creation.

  • Poor and unfair access to quality education opportunities for disadvantaged communities from 2001 is still prevalent today.

  • The imbalance of free economic participation for SMMEā€™s in corporate and government tenders and contracts based on delivery competencies and merit is lacking.

  • Corrupt behavior tendencies of respective officials in government has become a contagious incurable virus. Nepotism is alive and well and easily promoted from within government by HR departments.

  • Unfair and unequal distribution of technology and artistic development resources across all races by the needy for social reconstruction of community values and talent promotion is racially biased.

  • Poor service delivery in respective provinces, both metropolitan and the rural areas across the country, is continually expended and unresolved.

  • False promises by various political parties to deliver voters expectations and the perception to meet ā€œvotersā€ basic needs during the elections is not forthcoming.

Social Confusion

Moreover, our true happiness and liberty to exercise our freedom of speech and choices as proclaimed by the countryā€™s constitution in the millennium, remains questionable and dubious. And therein, in the wider scope of an integrated world of prosperous economies, grazes a gifted horse named success! called ā€œNami ngiyayi funaā€.

This aspirant dream in which every young South African man or young South African woman across the color-line wants to effortlessly embrace, ride and own! is not forth-coming. Yet, greed stand as an obstacle towards a balanced achievement of this honest human national goal. With a vast majority not qualifying to have it, touch it, see it, smell it or even imagine it. It is a dream that was lost in the promise of democracy to offer people a better life.
